Toboggan Time
Gus had to borrow a toboggan from Uncle Richard when he came out to visit. The temperature dropped quickly and his bald little head had to be covered a la Papa Smurf.

Giggle Box
Gus is getting very vocal these days. He likes to experiment with the different sounds he's capable of making as well as doing total belly laughs, which we are told he does for no apparent reason at daycare. Press the arrow key under the above image to get your giggle fix.

Big Bumpo
We introduced Gus to the Bumpo seat recently and to our delight he loved it! Its so funny to see him sitting upright as if sitting in a chair by himself. A little more practice and one day he will be sitting up by himself! Hard to imagine!

Peach Fuzz.
Gus has really started to mature these days. First, he's growing more hair. In this picture it looks like he has very blond fuzz but it looks more red I think. Still hard to say. But the big news is he has a tooth! He is working on two bottom teeth but one actually popped through the skin. It is a little soon from what we hear but normal. Its cute and sad at the same time as we adore his gummy smile but I have a feeling a smile with one bottom tooth will be pretty cute, too!

Grandpa John
This is "Grandpa" John. He is a friend of Aaron's that he met through mutual plant friends. He is a true plant expert and one of Aaron's travel companions when they go to nurseries and gardens in Portland, Seattle, etc. We jokingly called him "Grandpa" John even before Gus was born because he is such a sweet guy and seems like a a grandpa to Aaron. As knowledgeable as Aaron is about plants, he continues to be in awe of John's knowledge and memory of the different plants and learns a lot just by spending time with him.
John was a professor of Horticulture at a community college before retiring and he is the most active retired person we know. He continues to be involved with the students in labs and on field trips as well as attending all of the plant events Aaron attends near and far. It really is inspiring. I hope we continue to pursue our interests with as much passion and enjoyment as John when we retire.

He got a real kick out of meeting Gus for the first time and considered him adopted right on the spot. You can never have too many grandpas!
