Daddy Daycare

Aaron taking care of Gus while I worked one Saturday

Lots of time to take beautiful pics of our boy

I am still nursing but thankfully Gus has shown no hesitation to get food by any means necessary

Smelling the Roses....

We have been getting used to a whole new routine with Gus and work. It is challenging but so very worth it, of course. Sometimes we have to realize the house is just going to be messy that day or the to-do list is not going to be complete. It took a little while to get used to that feeling but now I think we're better for it. People seem to pride themselves on how busy they are and we would miss so much if we continued to be that way. No one gets to the end of the road and wishes they worked more or had spent more time cleaning. This season, in particular, is such a great time to slow down and appreciate the beauty God has created for us and the ones you love the most. I hope everyone is enjoying fall where they are!

Fall Project

Here are a couple of shots from the garden right now. Love the Angel's Trumpet above. We are in the process of removing most of what is in the backyard to redo the landscape into more of an unusual take on a cottage garden, which I have always wanted. Should see mostly a white, yellow, chartreuse and evergreen pallet using some good ol' cottage favorites like roses and daisies with a few eccentricities like yuccas and papyrus. Can't wait. The demolition has started. Keep you posted.

Sensational Season

I so love having a cutting garden! We have a few lillies around here but Aaron has the real show stoppers at the college where there is much more room. Here are a few more snips of his gorgeous roses and some wild goldenrod, which I have always loved this time of year. In the bowl are some trifoliate oranges and a beautiful blue-tinged pine cone.Posted by Picasa

Random Pic to Make You Laugh

This is Rosco. He is a squirrel my childhood friend Kristy rescued. Kristy is the only person I know who would even attempt this kind of project much less having him relaxing on a wash cloth looking like a labrador retriever. She says he's not always like this. Evidently he likes to use his sharp claws but isn't he cute? He likes to eat grapes on her boyfriend's neck and crawl up your leg which I am sure feels great. Wonder if JoJo and Fitzi would like one...

Gus to Go

Here we are practicing in the nifty tummy carrier Katy got us. We love it, especially now that Gus has gotten so heavy. Problem is, he prefers to be held. So we are practicing little by little so that we can wear him around the botanical garden or farmer's market instead of lugging out the stroller for everything. He'll come around.Posted by Picasa

Fall Flowers

October is a fantastic month for roses. Aaron has some gorgeous varieties at the college that I have been snipping for arrangements. This was a wonderful group of hydrangea, peach rose (Mother of Pearl) and the cutest little red carpet rose. Posted by Picasa

New Trick

We finally have a trick to show off! Until now Gus' most impressive talent has been cuteness but lately he is on a roll - cooing and grinning, etc. Enough to make a new parent puff up with pride. This weekend when Mimi and Poppy were here he discovered his mouth. Previously used just for pacifiers, he can now cram his little chubby fist right into it and it must taste delicious because he can do it for a very long time and be completely entertained by it. He will start at his nose and smear it down until he reaches his open mouth, and push it in and suck and smack on it. It is very impressive to see how much focus he gives it. I'll hold off on calling Harvard for now but it is an impressive new trick for sure!Posted by Picasa

Pumpkin Patch

Mimi and Poppy came to visit for the weekend. They could not believe how big Gus had gotten. Here is Poppy lugging Gus around at the Farmer's Market.

Serious Gus and his apple cheeks

It was a gorgeous weekend to look at the pumpkins and watch movies outside on the patio. Posted by Picasa
