Wonderous Wings

A most memorable experience for me since moving to NC has been my mid-summer meetings with hummingbird moths. At first sight these enchanting winged wonders seem to truly be hummingbirds. Always propelling toward their next petal, happily hovering at each unfolded flower, wings fanning 30 beats per sweet second. Such beauty and synchronization is enough to elicit excitement in me and always proves to be an extremely entertaining encounter.

Neat -- you like hummingbirds, too?

I'm remembering my 5th grade project from Eliot where we were asked to write "a book". It would be like pre-internet wikipedia entry...Britannica-worthy, hardly.

Anyway, I chose to write it about Hummingbirds. I gathered lots little known facts, made some crude drawings (your photos are waaay better!), and sewed the book binding into it's little 10 paga mini-masterpiece.

It's great to see your writing and fascination with them, too. We must be related, eh!? :-)

Love, your sis, -Sunessa
